BINGO
In the early 20th century bingo became famous in the United States. The roots of this game go back to the year 1530 in Italy when a lottery called “Lo Gioco del Lotto d’Italia” run by state is introduced. In the late 1700, the French introduced this lotto which became popular. Bingo is played using cards with nine columns and three rows with four free spaces per row.
The game of Bingo today was popularized by Edwin.S. Lowe when he observed “Beano”, a game performed in Atlanta, Georgia at a country carnival. The players used dried bean to mark cards as the numbers come and hence the game was know as Beano. The player yells the word “Beano!” after he/she finishes a line of numbers. Lowe introduced this game among his friends and an excited lady who had won one game shouted “Bingo!”, thus the game bingo was came in to being.
The game of Bingo is played in halls and the rules and payouts differ from one place to another. In each location where bingo is played, you will get brochures describing the rules and payouts of that location. It is a game of chance because it is a gambling game. Bingo is a simple game to learn and play. The player has to purchase a Bingo card before beginning the game. The cost of the Bingo cards are of same amount and you can purchase several cards. You can buy cards with numbers on them in 5×5 grid with “BINGO” printed. The numbers ranges from 1-75.
After starting the game, the bingo caller will call out the numbers periodically. The numbers are called out by removing the balls that are numbered from a ball blower. When the players hear the number, they will make it on their card if they have the number. The player can call out “bingo!” when he/she gets the five called number in a row, horizontally, diagonally or vertically. The person who calls out the word “bingo!” first will win the game.
